Sales figures just in from the end of March show that Software Quality: Theory and Management continues to sell strongly in the South East Asian market. The book first published in 1992 is now in its second reprint in this market and selling well.
Total global sales now exceed 10000, and is already my best selling title when block sales are excluded. It is well on the way to matching and exceeding the total sales of Excel in Clinical Governance at around 14000 copies.
Scrutiny of my visitor statistics in 2009 show that a small but significant number of visitors are arriving from a Greek Internet site which turns out to be a blog about X-Factor, the TV show.
The Campaign for Real Talks has today launched a free screensaver application. You can download the screensaver for free from here or from www.deathbypowerpoint.org.uk to reinforce the key messages about the proper use of presentation graphics in the support of public speaking in all its forms.

In the six months up to Sept 2008, the daily hit rate for www.alangillies.com was 208. In November 2008, it exceeded 1000 for the first time and the daily average for 2009 to date is over 1148. The monthly page totals are running at around 25,000. The increased popularity coincides with the migration to the Drupal-based site. Other factors which may influence the hit rates, are links to www.brighthub.com and www.academia.edu.
This week, Alan has published his 100th article at www.brighthub.com. The articles have covered a wide range of technology topics including software reviews, items on public speaking on time management, and organization as well as pieces on health technologies.
In total, Brighthub now reaches nearly 900,000 people a month, with a total of 1.8 million hits. Aproximately 60% of the audience is US-based, with the UK the second largest audience closely followed by Canada.
A complete list of articles is produced below. Just click on an article to read it:
Alan has today launched the Campaign for Real Talks (CAMFORT) at www.deathbypowerpoint.org.uk. This apparently frivolous campaign has the serious point of trying to raise the quality of public speaking and the use of technology in support of this goal.
There is plenty of material at the site, including free articles written for the Brighthub blogging site, and the best YouTube videos on the subject as well as links to paid resources as well.
Join the campaign by downloading a poster or six (they're free!) and by posting to the discussion forum on the subject
Over the years, I have produced a number of websites to accompany book and so on.
Many of these are quite rarely visited. Therefore I have decided to consolidate them on this domain.
To find the website accompanying Using Research in Nursing, please go to www.alangillies.com/nursing.
To find the website accompanying Using Research in Primary Care, please go to www.alangillies.com/research.
To find the website accompanying IT and Information for dentists, please go to www.alangillies.com/it4dentists.
Brighthub, the US blogging site, to which I contribute, has now passed 1.5 million monthly hits. This puts it in the top 4800 websites in the USA and rising.
My latest contribution is a series entitled the top ten most transparent software applications. To find out what this is about and what tops my chart, go to http://www.brighthub.com/office/home/articles/17167.aspx
Following the establishment of the new School of Public Health and Clinical Sciences at UCLAN, AG has been appointed as the research co-ordinator for the new School. The School has 9 professors and around 100 staff.
My latest set of articles for Brighthub considers the idea of "free" software. The title is a tribute to my my favourite science fiction writer who popularised the phrase TANSTAAFL (there's no such thing as a free lunch) in the 1960's classic The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.
